Finally,beforefiringthestovethefirsttimeacheckshouldbemadetoensurethatthe
assemblyandstoveinstallationhasbeensatisfactoryandthattherearenoleaksinanyseals
intheapplianceandapplianceconnectionstothechimney.
Ensurethattheapplianceandthechimneyfluearefunctioningcorrectlybeforefinally
handingovertotheuser.Ifnecessaryreadthelaterpartsofthismanualforguidanceon
carerequiredwhenfirstlighting.
Informtheuserthattheappliancehasbeencommissionedandreadytouseandgive
instructiononthesafeoperationofthestove.
Theseinstructionsmustbeleftwiththeuserandtheusershouldbeinstructedtokeep
theminasafeplace.
6.1Operatinginstructions
Pleasenotethattheapplianceapprovalonlycoverstheuseofdryseasonedwoodlogson
thisappliance.Thisapprovaldoesnotcovertheuseofotherfuelseitheraloneormixed
withthewoodlogsnordoesitcoverinstructionsfortheuseofotherfuels.
6.1.1 Fuel
ThestoveisdesignedandapprovedinaccordancewithAS/NZS4012/4013andAS/NZS
2918‐2001AppendixBforstockingdriedfirewood.Thefirewoodmusthaveawatercontent
of15–22%anditmaximumlengthshouldbethewidthofthecombustionchamberminus
50–60mm.
Stockingwithwetfirewoodcausesbothsootandenvironmentalpollutionandisbadfuel
economy.Freshlycutwoodcontainsapprox.50–70%waterandisthoroughlyunsuitable
forstocking.
Countmin.1yearofstoragetimefornewlycutwoodbeforeusing.
Woodwithadiameterofnomorethan100mmshouldbesplit.Regardlessofwoodsize,it
shouldalwayshaveatleastonesurfaceareafreeofbark.
Thefollowingfuelsareprohibitedandmustnotbeused:Painted,laminatedortreated
(impregnated)wood,woodwithasyntheticsurface,paintedrefusewood,chipboard,
plywood,domesticwaste,paperbriquettesandpitcoal,asthiswillproducemalodorous
smoke,whichcouldbepoisonous.Theuseofsuchfuelsmaydamagetheapplianceandwill
voidthewarranty.
Whenfiringwiththeabovementioneditemsandtheamountslargerthanthose
recommended,thestoveissubjectedtoalargeramountofheat,whichresultsinahigher
chimneytemperatureandlowerefficiency.Thiscanresultinthestoveandchimney
becomingdamagedandwouldvoidthewarranty.
