5. Installation
Theisafreestandingstoveandhasasteelsocket.
Thestovemustbesetupandinstalledinaccordancewithallcurrentnationalandlocalrules
andregulations.Localauthoritiesandachimneyspecialistshouldbecontactedpriortoset
up.
Itisprohibitedtocarryoutunauthorizedalterationstothestove.
Theremustbeplentyoffreshairintheroomwherethestoveisbeinginstalled,inorderto
ensurepropercombustion.Notethatanymechanicalexhaustventilation‐i.e.an
extractionhood‐mayreducetheairsupply.Anyairgratesmustbeplaceinsuchamanner,
thattheairsupplyisnotblocked.
Thefloorstructuremustbeabletocarrytheweightofthewoodburningstoveaswellas
theweightofthechimney,ifnecessary.
Thefireisplacedonfireproofmaterial.
WhenyouchoosewheretosetupyourRAISwoodburningstove,youshouldconsiderthe
heatdistributiontotheotherrooms.Thiswillenableyoutogetthebestuseoutofyour
stove.Thestoveshouldbesetupatasafedistancefrominflammablematerial.
Uponreceivingthestovemustbeinspectedfordefects!
5.1Installationdistanceincaseofcombustiblewalls
Todeterminewhetherthewallnexttowherethestoveisgoingtobeinstalledisflammable,
youshouldcontactyourbuildingcontractororthelocalbuildingauthorities.
Thehearthshouldbeabletoaccommodatetheweightforthestove.Theweightofthe
stoveisindicatedinthebrochure.
Ifthestoveistobeinstalledonawoodenfloor,itmustbecoveredwithanon‐combustible
materialatleast12mmthickinaccordancewithNewZealandBuildingCode.
Theclearancedistancetocombustiblematerialbeneathsurroundingoruponthehearth
andwalladjacenttothehearthshouldcomplywiththeguidanceoftheNewZealand
StandardAS/NZS2918‐2001AppendixB.
